- Agreed.
Plus their service is ****.
Why would I want to use EA servers when Live's are so much better? This is just EA trying to make themselves feel more important and that they control the online 'experience'... then make it worse.

- EA getting user information was part of the original agreement that got EA games onto Xbox Live when it first began. (soon after rather)
Honestly if you purchase EA made titles then you already have FAR more problems mentally than some information sharing can cause you
EDIT: In fact I remember EA's Live enabled demos having an EULA type screen informing you that your account information was being sent to EA.

- This is sick, Neowin. WHY SHOULD WE WORRY. That's right, lets just plant false senses of insecurity into everyone who reads these articles. It's not like they're doing anything horrible with it.
That is a disgustingly wrong title.

- Sick? No, sick is child porn, or rotten.com.
However, given that the FBI say you should watch who you give your details too:
http://losangeles.fbi.gov/telemarket/tele8.htm
Be very careful about the kinds of persons to whom you disclose personal information, such as credit card numbers and expiration dates, bank account numbers, dates of birth, or social security numbers.
The fact that such services are likley to be outsourced, and to the lowest bidder:
http://www.ecommercetimes.com/story/42112.html
Though even if the information is held by US/UK nationals that's no guarantee of security:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england...ire/4970346.stm
Then there is stuff like Identity theft/fraud:
http://www.consumer.gov/idtheft
But of course there's nothing to worry about. You're right, why should you worry? The world is a safe place, the internet doubly so, and nobody is interested in your information. EA are simply asking for it so they can make better games, and we can all be happy with that.

- Quote -Microsoft will provide your Xbox Live user account information to EA
Microsoft has the same amount of blame as EA on this. Why is all the hate towards EA only? This is Microsoft's service so they are calling the shots. Microsoft (and other consoles) should say tell EA that they should sracp the EA Online account for Xbox live services (and other consoles online services) but they didnt. Now you bring this up to Microsoft and EA to get a change.
