From Steam Update News:

Soon, we'll be releasing the first in a series of updates to Counter-Strike: Source which will be focused on moving the core Counter-Strike gameplay forward

The first update will include an updated version of the map Train, which will feature an HDR lighting pass, some minor layout changes, and a number of small bugfixes

The second facet of this release will be a completely reworked radar system. There will be a significant change to the aesthetics of the radar, but there are also some fairly significant gameplay ramifications to the new system. One example: when you look directly at an enemy for a long enough time for their name to appear on your screen, everyone on your team will be able to see that enemy in the radar. We're planning on releasing this first update in about two weeks

I hardly use the radar lol, HDR is cool. I just got a new monitor and Source looks great in widescreen mode on my 19" widescreen @ 1440x900. There's been quite a few Source updates but Valve don't update the change log on steam, why? To make it look less buggy ?

Doesn't really change the gameplay that much or "move it forward," but nice update.

I think it'll change gameplay ALOT. The radar..being able to see enemies that your mates can see will change the mechanics quite a bit as any 1-1 fights could quickly esculate as the players from both teams will know where exactly the opponent is.

Ha! That's assuming that people actually work together! Far too many times have I been ripped by assuming that a teammate is aiding me or that we are working together by coming that enemy from both sides... far too many times...

In my case, yes, that would be beneficial. When I hear "Enemy spotted" and "Takin fire, need assistance" I help, if I can. Unless, of course, they keep repeating those commands... man it gets old fast

this radar update will change the way clan wars are played, at least if a team practices using the radar to it's full advantage. it could add a whole lot more stealth aspect to the game. will be very interesting, if only I had the time to still be in a team

Oh, how I wish my computer could handle the HDR lighting. Everything would look so much nicer. It also wouldn't take 5 minutes to load up each game
