- wow good move, honestly should have happened along time ago, at least for people who's system broke within 4 months of buying it but better late than never.

- They're simply fixing their screw ups - this shouldn't need to be done because systems shouldn't break in a short amount of time. People will say/are saying "Microsoft are fixing systems!! They're nice!" - no. This makes them look good - don't congratulate them. Make your products right the first time.

- Your point is right, but at least they're doing the right thing in case of problems.

- That's basically saying that there shouldn't be 'warranties' because everything should work the first time.
Keep dreaming. -

This is what I'm talking about making them look good - "at least they're doing the right thing". Yeah, well that shouldn't need to be done...Quote - Netrack said @ #3.1atleast there doing it for free becuase *gasp* there have never been any recalls or anything of that sort everQuote - billyea said @ #3.3That's basically saying that there shouldn't be 'warranties' because everything should work the first time.

That's not what I'm saying. Of course it's understandable that there'll be a certain small percentage that will fail when they mass produce products, but the 360 was seriously flawed when it came out. This is different from only so many breaking down...
Now Microsoft must pay the price for their mess up...

- Buy it with a creditcard. You get extended warranty thru them. At least mine does. Not just on xbox but any purchase

- And it's not as easy as you think with that. To get the extended warranty through companies like American Express, you often have to file paper work for it and such.

- This is one upside of living in the EU you get 2 years worth of warranty
My sister just got a brand new Zen Micro after her 1 year and half Zen stopped working

- They should have had a 1yr warranty in the first place!

- What is the warranty, anyway? 90-days?
If so then mine is already out of warranty as I bought it in early April '06. I have had maybe 2 lock-ups and one problem game disc. When I first purchased Dead Rising I got "Disc Read Errors" all the time. Luckily it was just the disc I had and not the drive. I haven't had any problems with the game since I exchanged the defective disc for a good one. The guy at Gamestop was a jerk about it. I hate that store and am trying to avoid it.

- Guess it is for North America (and any other territory that released before Jan 06) cause 360 wasn't released in Australia till after Jan 06 (March 06 to be precise) But at least I got an extended warranty from the place of purchase just to be sure.
