Top 10 Best Selling PC Games Week Ending Nov. 18th

Here we go again, yet another NPD Group Top 10 Best Selling list, this time for the week ending November 18th. World of Warcraft is still in there, as are the obligatory The Sims 2 and 187897987 expansions. But a couple new debuts are here this week, including the amazing Everquest 2 expansion Echoes of Faydwer and Neverwinter Nights 2 (thought not really new of course). So here you go:
  1. The Sims 2 Pets Expansion Pack - Electronic Arts
  2. Medieval II: Total War - Sega of America
  3. World of Warcraft - Vivendi
  4. Neverwinter Nights 2 - Atari
  5. Flight Simulator X Deluxe - Microsoft
  6. Everquest II: Echoes of Faydwer - Sony Online Entertainment
  7. Battlefield 2142 - Electronic Arts
  8. Call of Duty 2 - Activision
  9. The Sims 2 - Electronic Arts
  10. The Sims 2 Happy Holiday Stuff - Electronic Arts
We are now getting close to the big thanksgiving week results, it will be interesting to see which game took the top spot, and what the rest of the games did over the big weekend. Not to mention we are heading into the big Xmas rush now.

already bought Flight Sim 10 the weekend it was released. it runs like crap on my 9700 Pro/XP 2800+. where is Company of Heroes guys? the game is so realistic I refer to it as Call of Duty in RTS form. screw Sims 2, I quit after enough Sims 1 play, I want Sim City 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <--- it means I really want it incase you did not catch that sublety.

It will dominate for a very, very long time.

The service has almost 8 million people playing now. 8 million people buying that expansion at $39 (average) is $312 million. I can seriously see Burning Crusade at #1, and World of Warcraft at #2 for a long time. lol

Hell, WoW's been basically #1 for 2 years! That's completely unheard of.

It's kinda insane to even think about but I'm fully expecting it. Not to mention the people that will come back to the game, I bet they hit 9+ million subscribers after BC is released.

I don't know if I'm reading this correctly, but the list says "World of Warcraft - Vivdeni". Shouldn't "Vivdeni" be "Blizzard Entertainment"?

I think they just list the publisher. For example, Medieval 2 is developed by Creative Assembly, but published by Sega (although Blizzard might stand to save a crapload of money by publishing games themselves!

fyi, Blizzard IS a subsidiary of Vivendi. (i.e. vivendi pwned blizzard. literally)

It helps WoW a little bit that it's now a budget-priced title. Man...Sims is still all over the list.

I'd like to see a Sims 2 with every expansion in one, like a Best Of or something.. But that wouldn't make as much money as to sell them all individually, now would it? :-

And by the way, I thought it was Vivendi, not Vivdeni?

It wouldn't be in EA's best interest to do an "all-in-one" pack, at least not yet. With a new expansion seemingly every other month, they would most likely wait until they hit that "sweet" mark of a few months drought so to speak. But I do see maybe by next year's holiday season a special "Sims Pack" of Sims 2 and expansions. It just makes sense that they would once they have 883738 more expansions out to do it then.

And it is Vivendi, but because Firefox has like every other proper name in the post flagged as misspelled I didn't see that Vivendi was actually spelled wrong. Fixed it now though.

They've already made combo packs consisting of every possible permutation for the first Sims Expansion packs (1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8, 1+2+3, 4+5+6, etc), and eventually released and all-in-one version. I got that for $50.

I'm sure eventually they'll do the same with Sims 2, or start combining the Fun Packs (or whatever they're called; those are worthless).

I wonder if the Sims games are pirated as much as they are sold? I also wonder who the hell has been buying Sims games nonstop for like the past five years. They haven't left the Top Ten in all that time.

When girls stop playing with dolls, they start playing sims. And we've got hundreds of thousands girls growing up every day. It's their nature to nurture. Even in a virtual world.

At least, that's what my gf told me. While playing the game, of course.. I know there are male audiences for them too, but i guess they're not as attached to the game as their female counterparts.

If you can remember the game Prey, they said at it's peak they sold over a million copies. It was in the top ten briefly, so these games that stay on for weeks are selling obscene amounts.

PC gaming dead? Sony and Nintendo wish it was dead.
