In an interview with TotalVideoGames, Microsoft Europe Chief Chris Lewis has declared: "gaming is certainly something we're considering for the device." Does Microsoft want to tackle the portable music market as well as the portable video game market? Or, are we just talking about matching what the Apple iPod is already offering? Either way, Microsoft has the advantage of Xbox Live and a library full of casual and classic games from Live Arcade. Does the Zune even have the hardware or is Lewis referring to the second generation Zune? Should Microsoft even bother, considering the DS and the PSP is dominating the market already? Expect the rumors to give you answers to all these questions, and more.

They definitely shouldn't bother if they're talking about gaming like the PSP or DS. But if it's casual gaming like what the iPod has available, then I say thumbs up.

100% for iPod-like games. It has a 400Mhz processor, it's more than capable of playing most XBLA games.

Major thumbs down if they release a new Zune for games.

This is probably part of Microsoft's "Live Anywhere" plan. Then plan to have Xbox Live on mobile phones, so they might do the same with Zune. They'll probably release a firmware update with Xbox Live capability, so that you can see your friends list and send messages, like Xbox.com, but you can also play Xbox Live Arcade games, and unlock the achievements.

That would be pretty handy for me when I'm in school. I just need to get one when it comes out in the UK.

Don't think it would work too well.

iPod games are shite, and it's not as if they can bring out many good games on a piece of hardware in this category anyway.
