They always list ridiculous hard drive requirements for little things. Hell my router's box claimed it needed 50mb of harddrive space...and it doesn't require any drivers or any installation whatsoever

The only thing that sucks is the left and right triggers don't act as buttons. So when playing console ports, you sometimes don't have enough buttons to map to.

The two triggers act as a single axis on games that do no support XInput. So if the game has XInput support (the controller lights up with player number), it will work fine. It may also work if you have third-party drivers installed (think the good ones are XBCD or something).

The real news here is that the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows was just released; the controllers are the same and have always been available.

might be worth getting excited about if there was some decent games to play with it like Gears of War...

I love the 360 controller. I want this.

I bought a wired 360 controller a few months back (at a bargain price of £15) and it's a really nice controller, I have to admit. The default drivers (at the time) sucked though, so unless they've improved then I advise you to install 3rd party drivers (google XBCD) to really take advantage of it.

There has been a need for a standardized windows gamepad for awhile now. Maybe this will become the standard button configuration for games to rely on people having. It is really sad to see how lousy the gamepad support is for console ports such as the grand theft auto 3 series.

I also hate how tedious button mapping currently is in games...not to mention how buttons are simply "numbered" 1 through 12 or whatever.

I really hope to see more gamepad/console type games come out for the PC. I would also like to see more same system multiplayer games come to the PC like in console gaming.

the games for windows certification is suppose to standardize the 360 controller for the pc. Game developers have to implement a config for the controller. After that it'll be plug and play.
that's what i've heard anyways
and also this wireless 360 controller via the new usb adapter has been available for a while, after some delay
i ordered it the day it came out, tho i have yet to install. =p

Why doesn't the standard 360 wireless controller work?
#9.1 mattrobs on 24 Feb 2007 - 22:36
There's no receiver for the computer?

It does work you just need to purchase the receiver otherwise it cannot communicate with the computer.
