Following earlier confirmation that Nintendo and Sony would not release Rockstar's Manhunt 2 with its U.S. 'Adults Only' rating, and the game refused a rating in the U.K., Take-Two representatives have confirmed it has "temporarily suspended" plans to distribute the game. According to an official statement distributed to journalists, including U.S. consumer website GameSpot: "Take-Two Interactive Software has temporarily suspended plans to distribute Manhunt 2 for the Wii or PlayStation platforms while it reviews its options with regard to the recent decisions made by the British Board of Film Classification and Entertainment Software Rating Board,"

The official Take-Two statement concludes: "We continue to stand behind this extraordinary game. We believe in freedom of creative expression, as well as responsible marketing, both of which are essential to our business of making great entertainment." Most U.S. retailers, including Best Buy, GameStop and Wal-Mart, refuse to stock AO rated games as a matter of policy, separately of the console hardware manufacturers refusing its release. This makes it almost certain that the title's content will need to be changed and resubmitted in order for it to reach American shelves - if Rockstar and Take-Two decide to take this parth to market.

I wish I could get a chance to play the un-filtered copy. The world is so hyprocrite. It's ok to make movies that use real actors to do most of this stuff but don't let someone make a game off of it. I mean it can't be any worse than Hostel.

hehe nice assumption there, little bit narrow minded.

regardless of what games I play this is pure violence on mindless scale.

to understand what I mean i would relate it to Resevoir Dogs. Most violence in films/games is a means to an end.

The Resevoir dogs scene with the ear being cut off had no meaning behind it which made it all the more emotive shocking.
Manhunt 2 is the same in game form and an overdose of it too.

( i really don't want to start this debate again, but there was an experiment here in the UK recently where several families had all media devices removed from their house for 2 weeks. This included games consoles TV's, PC's laptops e.t.c.

over that two week period all the childrens were much calmer and hardly any sibling rivalry. Families were much calmer all round. these were children who watched about 3 hours or played 3 hours of games a day. )

someone has to make a judgement on what is released into the wild is it going to be you!

So you always base your opinions on one study? As stated earlier, there are far worse things being released in movies with no repercussions. This is hypocritical. Stores won't sell an AO game, but I've seen Wal-Mart sell rated R and even unrated versions of movies.

One study has backed up what is pretty damn logical to anyone who understands how people are desensitized. I agree there are movies out there equally to blame, a good example is Captivity.

But you can't go on forever say 'it's not fair cause tommys got one, I want one.' It has to start somewhere and if it has to be video games then movies then sobeit.

It is however unfair if games are the only ones that are picked on.

you know the unfiltered copy will turn upon p2p sites thats the good thing lol

This wasn't going to be released for PC so unless you have a chipped Wii or modded PS2, a P2P version is useless.

I hope someone takes a stand in regards to your inability to use punctuation and decent grammar.

I don't see why people care about another person's grammar. It's obvious you understood what he/she was trying to say even if you thought their grammar sucked.

Take-Two should distribute it themselves. I'm sure enough people would want to get a copy with all of this free publicity.

They don't need stores. They can sell directly to customers.

So they set up a online shop, billing and shipping system all for one game? How are they going to sell in other regons? How will they ship the games? How will they track them?

I agree with Spookie. Since Take-Two is already having financial problems, I seriously doubt that they would be able to sink the cash they'd need to do this.

Now I am not against killing virtual people, aliens and space monsters with any device, pipe or gun that is handy but from what I heard about the Nintendo Wii version you actually did the strangling and knifing which is different to what you do in normal violent games. Take-Two and Rockstar pushed the boat out too far on this one. With a feature like that it was going to be banned. The BBFC are a pretty open group when it comes to Films and stuff so they must of had a very good reason for banning it.

That's what attracted me to Manhunt 2, the Wii version will be a completely new experience albeit extreme form of gaming.

It should be noted that I've not owned any console since Megadrive (excluding portables) so I'm not a hard-core gamer I game for fun and/or stress relief I loved Manhunt 1 and it's story plot and everything else, it was new exciting and very graphic (but i like my horror films gory so why not my games) Other greats for me would be Half Life series, shame that they always get delayed Portal looks exciting

Sadly the odd 4 or 5 people that decide to copy the in-game actions of these games ruin it for the other 1,000,000+ players. Its usually the same story, kid about 15 murders his friend cause he was bored. Parents of the child blame him playing "AVideoGame", parents weren't questioned about why their mentally unstable child is playing games that have an age limit on them.

There are far worse horror movies out there than any video game I've played.

There was a game recently that got banned due to using a screenshot of the Jamie Bulger murder. I mean I agree with that, as its so bloody irresponsible.

Why does it still say that its going to be released July 10th in the US and July 13th in Europe?
