- All that needs to happen is for small companies to be recognized right beside the big ones. Too many people were complaining that huge companies like EA and Ubisoft took too much of the spotlight.

I think what you're trying to say is that DEVELOPERS should get more of the spotlight, rather than the PUBLISHERS like EA.
This has always been a problem in the game industry. Publishers don't like giving devs credit because then devs can demand more rights--and royalties. There's only a few "superstar" breakout devs like Crytek that get to keep any rights. The rest, like DICE, eventually get assimilated and their franchises turned to crap.

- its because they have the funds to buy all the spotlights. i dont think this necessarily needs to be a consumer gathering. i think the invite only aspect will make this event what it should be, and thats a summit for developers to explore the next level. not parade new products to people who are going to buy it anyway.

- True. Back when the changes being made for this years E3 were announced, I, like everyone else, was very disappointed. But if they do this right I think that it will work out better in the end.

how many people go to E3 to consider the next generation of games for purchase? very very few. most go to get a first peek or learn more about a game/product they already have interest in.

- It will be interesting to see this new E3 versus the previous years. I am going to the show but out of the big three, I only got a media invite to the Nintendo Press Conference. Sony and Microsoft must be really expecting big crowds with their price cut announcements.
