In 2005, we started the Neowin Community Game Awards. Unlike other "Best of Year" awards, every step of the process is voted on by the members. From the initial nominations to the final voting, you, the people who play the games, get to voice your opinions on which titles truly stood out from the rest. The NCGA's are the epitome of a "for the fans, by the fans" award.
The time has arrived, finally, for us to pick up where we left off two years ago (we missed a beat in 2006). The nomination round is now upon us. In this round, all members are asked to visit the nomination page and submit their choices for "Best of" in each category. Not a member, but want to contribute? All you have to do is register! This round will continue until October 29th, at which point nominations will be closed and the results tallied. The five most nominated games in each category will then proceed to the final voting round where they'll duke it out for the crown.
What else can be said? Let's get clicking and let's start nominating!
Please only nominate games you truly feel deserve the recognition released between October '06 and October '07. You can fill in as many or few of the categories as you like. Blank fields will be accepted as a null nomination.

Call of Duty 4 counts right? the beta is out, and releases in a few weeks. It's honestly the best game i've ever played, and it's only in beta

Unfortunately, if it's not released by the 29th, then it will be disqualified. I put in the time frame so people can be sure in future nominations. Sorry about that.

So what's about from Oct. to Oct.?
from Nov to Nov == from Oct to Oct?

No, but considering those of us working on this are doing it in our free time AND we need a period of one month for the community to give their input, we need the head start to get this all done on time. If you don't like it, don't take part. That's your prerogative, but we need to do this in a timely manner that allows us to get the work done while still working our real jobs and handling our real lives.

Very true.
But how's this related to "Nov/Oct" thing?
I appreciate all neowin staff's effort and their contribution but stating a wrong fact and evading that particular fact by arguing "effort and contribution of teh human people in newoin" instead of telling us the true reason is entertaining.
So now I sill has the question: why not "from Nov to Nov?"

Because our system involves one entire month of voting by the members; two weeks for nominating, a week off for us to tabulate the results and get the options into the script, then two more weeks for voting. That's five weeks. We're looking at ending that part of the process in the second half of November. Then, we have to sit down and actually write out the article and deal with contacting the respective publishers. Most magazines/publications don't do any of the 5 week process that we undertake. They pick their games, write their articles, and release them. On top of that, they get paid to do that. All of the work we do has to be done in our free time and it's, comparatively, a longer process to begin with. Starting in November would have us putting out the article in mid to late January. Unfortunately, that's too late as far as everyone else is concerned. Most other publications will have had their articles out for a good two weeks already.

...Does anyone else think the logo looks a bit...odd?
Not really familiar with that, what would be an example of an action PC game?

I don't know, honestly. My inability to follow every game on the market is one of the reasons we made this a community thing to begin with. Think of action platformers, as those are the most common types of action games. Then again, a good action game candidate would be something like Stranglehold. I think that came out on the PC, too.
EDIT: Might I suggest for next year to include categories such as "Best Soundtrack" "Best Graphics" "Best Innovation" etc...?

The Orange Box wouldn't technically be one game. Portals is a puzzle game and HL2 and TF2 are first person shooters.
No, this is about video games.
what's the point?. this list will be filled just with overhyped crap and the winner will be the more overhyped game from the moment (usually one of the latest).
UT3 comes out in November
