Reid Godshaw, the Dirty PlayStation Kid™ has contacted PlayThree.net to debunk the conspiracy theories against him. He states that he is a long time Sony consumer, a genuine customer, and categorically denies being paid to attack Sony.

Reid Godshaw is the all-American kid who shot to notoriety when his PlayStation 3 broke. Sony refused to fix it claiming it was too dusty. However gamers began to get suspicious because pictures of his PS3 showed a console that wasn't just dusty, but actually covered in a thick layer of dirt. Eager gamers then discovered that the Dirty PlayStation Kid™ was a bit-part actor. Conspiracy theories suggested that his whole story was a big set-up against Sony intended to damage consumer confidence in them. Speculation then turned to who was the puppet master. Could it be a rival console maker?

NO. Godshaw has written an emotional post to PlayThree.net to share his side of the story. He says "Yes im an actor, No i definitely have never appeared on Fox News ever before. No i wasnt paid or encouraged by anyone to attack Sony." He goes on to say "First off, I emailed this to Consumerist as soon as i was told that in order to get pictures of my system i would have to subpoena them. Yes I'm an actor, No that doesn't mean i just go out and buy a new console, or just dish out 150$ to have them dust my 600$ console off. I did what i thought was necessary." Perhaps if you thought it necessary to wipe a cloth over your PS3 once in a blue moon all of this could've been avoided?!

Reid Godshaw I am glad to set the record straight, and link to your crap. Please let us know what is happening with Sony and your PlayStation 3, I want to know how this story ends. And don't be too upset by all the press, your IMDB star rating is up 6000% which means film executives will be taking note. Maybe next year we will get to see you in the Christmas PS3 ads?

Steven your news 'articles' are now becoming obscenely boring. I generally try and skip over your posts now as we all know all we'll see from you is some peice of opinionated, biased drivel.

Please don't lower the tone of this site by posting more of this crap. It has turned the site from a good news source to just a soapbox.

You do realise this is a direct copy-and-paste and not Steven's opinion?

Right. Just one question: Who the **** is this "Dirty PlayStation Kid™" and why should I care?

Note to Neowin editorial staff:

If it's

1) not news about technology

and

2) Not news about video games

and

3) not news about software

It's not Neowin-worthy news. This sort of "news" belongs on the back page of a tabloid, not the front page of Neowin.
Get with it, people.

Dirty Playstation Kid is a consumer who is being refused service because his console was dirty, I consider that somewhat news. Who does Sony think they are?
#5 JiveMasterT on 27 Nov 2007 - 14:26
Yeah while interesting I don't think this really belongs on the front page... maybe the back page news section but definitely not the front.

Edit...
Did anyone read the comments on the consumerist? No one likes this dick.

Sorry, but I must read an article first, before stating any opinion.

Common logic.

Am I confused or what? People are really saying this guy is at fault because Sony(a major corporation) refused him warranty service on his console because it was DIRTY?! Not to mention the console is valued at $600.00 USD! I read his blog and people are exclaiming "If you weren't such a pig, you could get your service", like are you people F***ING SERIOUS? That's like saying your car dealer won't do work on your car because the exterior is dirty, you people need a reality check.

++ And to defend the author's submission of this NEWS, it is an absolute disgrace that Sony is doing that and I consider it news. It makes me dislike Sony even more, and if Microsoft refused service on my X360 because it was dusty I would file suite in court.

EVERY electronics device came with a tolerable use, a indoor device is pretty limited to a extend of heat, magnetic interference (FCC), humidity and dust, crossing this measure it's most likely to break the warranty. Anyways, he was so dumb to return a clearly dirty console, or was just a plot?.
