Sony has confirmed that it will bring PlayStation Network Cards - which work like Wii Points Cards - to the US in 2008. Both Wii and 360 already have Points Cards systems in place, which offer users a way of getting credit onto their consoles without the need for a credit card. At the moment, entering card details into PSN is the only way to make purchases (unless you're in Japan, where PSN cards are already on sale). "We've heard the call ... from loyal PS3/PSP owners who'd like to give (or receive) these cards as a gift, and from those who'd like an alternative to using a credit card to purchase things on the PlayStation Store," admitted Sony before delivering the good news.

"The option many of you have been asking for - PlayStation Network Cards - are coming, and should start appearing at retailers in early '08," Sony confirmed. "The cards will be redeemable via the PlayStation Store for PC, and on the PS3 to supply the wallet with funds to spend on games, add-ons, and other paid content," it explained. There's currently no word on a UK release, but we'd expect PSN Cards in our stores shortly after US. If not, it's riot time.
