As always, this year's contest started by rounding out the top 100 through community nominations. Public voting was then held to list to the top five games/mods in each of three categories - indie games, unreleased and released mods. After analyzing and gathering data based on the votes, we are finally ready to present the results. ModDB has approached this year's winners, in advance, in hopes of securing exclusive content for you, the viewer. We've come back with a few goodies that I hope you guys will like. It was a very close race to the number one spot this year. Regardless, every one of the winners showcased in this feature deserve the attention. Without the effort, enthusiasm and dedication behind these projects, 2007 would have been a tough year to try and play something different.

When you're done watching the video showcase below, be sure to check out the write-ups of all the winners in the following pages for full access to all the related media. Exclusive content will be marked as such so you guys will know what to check out first. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all those who took part in the 2007 Mod of the Year Awards.

The best thing about computer games is that no matter how much a game sucks, if the engine is decent and there's a good SDK out for it, you can steer it into the win column.

That's what I've always liked about PC games. You get much more value and content out of them than console games. Mods have also often added stuff that would never be allowed by any publisher, or retail store.

Yeah, ok.. can we now have a MOD competition where Americans aren't allowed to vote?

There's so many of them that they bias the results of anything they participate in, these results perfectly illustrate this.. I mean WTF? War, War, War... just because their entire 'culture' is steeped in warmongering and they know little else, not EVERYONE is so inclined to warbased FPS shooter..

Should be renamed to 'America's choice, mod of the year'.

You sir are a hypocrit, how is your warning level not 100% and you on the verge of a ban?

The word Hypocrit(e) doesn't really have any relevance here.. at the most you could call be a troll, but then again as what I'm saying isn't necessarily a non-truth then 'troll' may have no relevance either. Meh.

...and, No.. I'm only at 60%, still 2 warnings to go, which if I'm not careful could be used up here.

WOW... you call me dumb, yet you don't think that this is a ridiculously, narrow minded and parochial opinion to have?

Do you own a mirror?

The only thing I found interesting is Warsow. Quake 3 diehards will love it.

Everything else is just meh.
