Late yesterday, Microsoft announced that it will cut the price of the three Xbox 360 SKUs in Canada due to the ongoing battle with Nintendo and Sony to gain household dominance.

Microsoft spokesman David Dennis noted that prices only affect the Canadian market and prices will not change in the United States as "each market makes its own decision on the matter".

According to the article, the Standard and Elite models will be getting a $50 price drop off their original prices (making them $349 and $449 respectively), while the Arcade model is only dropping a mere $20 to $279.

Has this price drop influenced your decision on whether to get a Xbox 360 or not?

...as before the price cut, only, pre-tax. It's not like you didn't have to pay the GST/PST before...

If you think £228 is bad, you try paying £400 for your Xbox Elite when it was brand new. I had to trade my Wii in for it, but it was well worth it

I just bought a new 46" Aquos and I'm in the market for a console, this may push me over to the 360 camp, I really want a Blu-Ray player though...

Speaking of Alberta, anyone figure out a way to smuggle taxfree stuff from there back to Ontario? or did I just put myself on the surveillance list of the Candian IRS?

its HBC I'm talking about again, but I believe my mom said she bought a washer and dryer here at the bay. and she set it for pick up in Nova Scotia where my grandmother lives. My grandmother just sent the money through the banks to pay back my mom and saved the PST.. But don't quote me 100% on that.

However I don't think its that easy for a xbox 360.

i will get a xbox360 if they have a warranty here in panama, since the console itself its very fragile and its a risk getting this.
