- Ending 1:You kill the bad guy with a knife.
Ending 2:You kill the bad guy with a cudgel.
Ending 3:You kill the bad guy with a shotgun.
And so on. If there are 200 endings there wont be that much of a differene between them. -

- STALKER had hugely different endings depending on how you played the game.

But STALKER didn't have 200 endings, it didn't even have 10. -

- I think it will be multiples cutscene "concatenated" differing by what you have done.
Look at this :
2 "prologue cutscene" * 5 "middle cutscene 1" * 5 "middle cutscene 2" * 4 "End cutscene" = 200 different Endings
They have to make a total of 2+5+5+4 = 16 cutscenes to make 200 differents ends to the game. -

LOL...
Ending 4:You kill the bad guy with a knife wearing a blue cape.
Ending 5:You kill the bad guy with a cudgel wearing a green cape.
Ending 6:You kill the bad guy with a shotgun wearing a red cape. -

That only makes 4 different endings though

- This shall be interesting.
Let's hope that the game will be a decent successor of the original series....

- of course this also means that the endings won't exactly be cinematic masterpieces.
but probably mostly text chats, without any voice over even. -
#4.1 Posted by vanacid on 26 Mar 2008 - 12:59
- In Oblivion, there was "voice over" on every possible line of chat...
Why wouldn't they do the same ? -

- You can blame Black Isle for that. Hell, their Fallout 3 project consisted of the very same graphics even. While I still would've played it, I do think it's about time to move on from those graphics and try something new.

- In Black Isle games, most dialogue was only text, but there were REAMS of it, with lots of fun and interesting dialogue options. And what was spoken was really well done, long and artistic.
I prefer that IMMENSILY to the two millions of generic one-liners of Oblivion. Wow, they are all spoken. Ugh.
The idea of voice acting every line of dialogue has a major drawback and it shows. Black Isle new a whole lot better about making good RPGs than Bethesda. After Morrowind and Oblivion I don't trust them to make a faithful follower to Fallout. But we'll see.

- If each city/vault has 3 different endings (good, bad, neutral), it only takes 5 cities/vaults to have more than 200 endings.

- ???? I am usually good at math,... but this doesn't make sense to me

Am I wrong or what ? -

I assume he means 3^5 endings. -

i think he means permutations...
good, good, good, good, good.
good, good, good, good, neutral.
good, good, good, good, bad.
good, good, good, neutral, good.
etc...
bad, bad, bad, bad, bad
so is that 5*4*3*2=120?
blah. who cares... they arent going to be all *completely* different. all that effort, they should have max 5 completely different endings, that would make it interesting and people might replay the game for that. instead, we'll have people go online and check what the different things are.

- but fallout 3 will be another doom-clone FPS shooter, will be strategic-like style or will keep the old style.

- ahh yes, fallout 3...
they ****ed over there oblivion users to make this game
i hope everyone remembers that -
#8.1 Posted by n_K on 26 Mar 2008 - 20:02
- They f`d over everyone.. Oblivion was just a big joke, and this is even more of a big joke, won't be buying it or playing it myself, like most 2D games that get spoilt. Diablo 2 was awesome, diablo 3 was that bad it got scrapped, HAH!

- (HawkMan said @ #8.2)umm how?
they abandoned us, they refuse to fix anymore of the 1000+ bugs left in the game (not counting those in there addons and expansion pack) it was just speculation to begin with, but they publicly made this known when they released there last addon and announced they would not fix the game breaking bug within it
its an awesome game, even with those bugs, but when its so ****ed up like that
it makes you wonder what there future games will be like, and in that i will never buy one ever again

- Wow that's one ending for every half hour of gameplay.

- I hate the game with multiple ending, you can't see all unless you play the game number of times. I am not ready to play fallout 200 times to cover all the endings.

Howard now comments that Fallout 3 is "probably twice the size that we originally had on paper" and "approaching" the magnitude of Oblivion. Overall, Howard estimates that the forthcoming title "easily" includes more than a hundred hours of total gameplay and over 200 endings—each ending naturally being tailored to the player's path throughout the game.
Fallout 3 is still very much on track to hit stores some time this fall, according to Howard. The game is expected to come out for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
