Those hoping to get hold of Killzone 2 this Christmas will have to hold out a bit longer, after Sony revealed that the game won’t be making it out until February next year. The news came at Sony’s PlayStation Day event, where Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss David Reeves announced that the sequel would be released in February next year.

The game had previously been pencilled in for a late 2008 release.

Understandably, this will be a bit of a disappointment for PS3 fans. Quite asides from the fact that the original had proven popular on the PS2, the stunning footage of the game that’s been show so far has already generated a ludicrous amount of hype on its own.

That said, if Guerrilla Games feels it needs a bit more time to ensure the gameplay is of the same standard as the visuals, then it’s probably for the best. And besides, the delay is relatively small – a mere couple of months – anyway.

They better use that extra time to polish up the game so it looks as close to the E3 2005 trailer as possible.

that is why they keep delaying it, because they can't take the heat from the hype they created with all that CGI at E3

That could very well be true, I wouldn't doubt it since we're talking about Sony here.

Another AAA PS3 game slipped back to 2009? That's simply disgusting....SONY Playstation fans really deserve more than this. First GT5 and now Killzone 2? This is what happens when you show fake CGI footage at E3 all those years ago and now you have to deliver the game and visuals which have been highly anticipated since they were shown and they simply have now had to invest years of development time to get to that standard. It also proves how difficult the PS3 is to program and make use of the horses under the bonnet and its graphics capability. Something of which the average games developer hasn't got massive budgets or time to do so.

Wait killzone 1 was good? I played it once or twice on my ps2 and its sub-standard to say the least. Lets hope killzone 2 delivers.

KZ2 did not get delayed. I don't know how a game that did not have a official release date can be delayed lol

K2 will rock!
