but im shocked, simply SHOCKED that its not pandemonium in the streets. i was expecting to see 12 year olds with AK's running amok in the streets trying to pretend they are Niko.

odd how that turns out...

I know! What is the deal with that? I've listened to Jack Thompson and Hilary Clinton, and according to them, a game like this selling so well should have meant doom to us all! You know, you should even see kids hijacking cars, pulling up to a toll booth, smashing the window to hand over the toll, and speeding off again.

While success is a positive statement all by itself, GTA4 winning the Guiness Prize bugs me. When GTA 3 was released, a family member who knows Im a cybergeek had me give it a try. What came next is something for which I was not prepared.

When the assult, mamming or killing of another human being as well as carjacking, and a variety of violent illegal actions become the basis for "gaining points and winning the game" it gives me pause. Now that GTA has gotten the Guniess record, it makes me wonder what under 30 crowd is all about.

games are about doing certain things you might not be able to do it real life.

Does spider man 3 make you think WOW the crowd under 30 likes to be a super hero and have a web shoot out of their wrist.

or does it make all the harry potter readers wanna put spells on other humans.

sorry but people that say this type of thing have a very narrow mindset.

Are you kidding? I'm 36 and never laughed so much while playing a video game before. I wouldn't consider myself to be immature for my age either, I just think parts of this game are funny as hell. Probably the biggest factor involved is the ability to separate fantasy from reality. It's oddly funny to do the kinds of things in this game that you could or would only dream about doing in the real world, having the intellect to realize that you just can't do that sort of thing in real life.

If you think that what a pixelated image does in a fantasy world is 'cool', and you go out and shoot a load of people because you saw some pixelated image do it on your TV screen, what game you are playing at the time you got the idea is probably the least of your problems. I mean you've got to have big problems with your head if that's how you think.

exactly! , cause i was always saying the same thing... cause if you use this game to go out in real life an do this stuff you gotta have serious mental issues to begin with (i.e. it's not the games fault if you go out and try to copy it)

GTA IV deserves it more than that shitfest, overhyped FPS Halo 3.

+1 .... i strongly agree! , cause i think out of the super popular (big selling) games i think Halo series is BY FAR the most overrated.

p.s. i think MAFIA 2 will be better than GTA4 though ... cause MAFIA (on PC) was (and still is) one of my all time favorite single player games.

No surprise here i myself have this game and there is nothing about it that you cant like.GTA has ben a major series and always will be until they run out of stories or for what ever unfortunite reason have to sell to another company. Luckly that hopefully will neve happen because of the all the money they made.
