Media Molecule has commented on the recall of the highly anticipated title LittleBigPlanet. As many of you are already aware, Sony has begun a global recall due to offensive material found within the soundtrack of the game. We've included an excerpt from the developers below; they're just as disappointed as we are.

"We learnt yesterday that there is a lyric in one of the licensed tracks which some people may find offensive, and which slipped through the usual screening processes. Obviously MM and Sony together took this very seriously. LBP should be enjoyable by all. So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), we prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no online was to replace existing disks. They assure us that they are doing everything in their power to get things straightened out as fast as possible, and will announce dates soon."

LittleBigPlanet will be released on October 27 in the United States and October 31 in Europe. Coincidentally, this was the original release date for Europe before the game was moved up a week.

Ouch! Perhaps the most anticipated game yet for the PS3, and they have to go and repress all the discs...

Gotta wait another week

Glad to see Sony and MM acting on it so quickly though!

More like shame on Sony for not sticking two fingers up at those whingers!

All this sudden fuss about a song wrote by a Muslim, containing two lines from the Koran, that's been out for 2 years! These people had two years to complain to Sony, but they decide to complain literally a couple of weeks before the release? I bet it was Nintendo in disguise!

As ridiculous as this is, offending a large religious group is a serious problem. Radical Christians boycott and whine when they get offended. Radical Muslims blow things up. Sony's probably not keen on either, but I'm sure they're covering their bases on the latter in this instance.
