Amazon.com recently unveiled it's latest accessory sale, and one of the more popular items that went on sale is an Xbox Live Gold Subscription. Amazon has marked down the price by nearly 40% to $29.97. As of January 5th, 2009, there are currently 17 million Xbox Live subscribers. So if you're one of the 11 million people who don't have a subscription to Xbox Live, right now is a good time to try it out.

The Gold subscription gives you 12 months of access to Xbox Live. Xbox Live lets you play games against other online players, as well as download free demos, trailers, and more in Xbox Live Marketplace. You can use Microsoft Points to download full games from Xbox Live Arcade, or extras for your favorite games, such as new levels, vehicles, weapons, and lots more. You'll also find movies, TV shows, and original content created just for Xbox Live members.

On top of the normal features given to Xbox Live subscribers, the Gold subscription gives gamers the ability to join multi-player games with other members of the Xbox Live community, online parties, and Netflix Movie Streaming.

The offer expires on January 30th, 2009. View Offer.

For those non-Americans of you, like me, don't even think about buying this -- the code isn't region free, unfortunately

you have to click the link where it says "41 new from $29.97" right below where it says you save ($...they are back ordered but a worthy wait...buy 2 if you can 2 years for 60 bucks is quite a deal

That's quite a good deal. If they always costs that much, I'd buy it without much of an issue.

I hope you realize that Microsoft doesn't tell Amazon how much they "have" to sell the cards at. This is a promotion that Amazon is doing, so stop complaining.

American games sell in WHOLESALE for cheaper, as they always have done.
Its a scum way of making more money, outside USA-tax.

PC World do a 12 Month subscription for £34.24 if you reserve and collect it. It's the cheapest at a reliable place I've seen it.

http://xboxliveuk76.com/ is where me, my dad and my mate have gotten our 12+1 month gold live. Nice and cheap. The guy operating it sends you the code via email. Have had no problems with it at all. £28.99 when I got it.
