Top 20 PC Games of 2008

The NPD Group recently released some statistics for video games, and out of that comes the top 20 PC games of 2008. This list isn't considered completely accurate as it does not take into account sales via digital distribution methods. However, it does at least give a general sense of some of the top games of 2008.

3. World of Warcraft: Battle Chest - Blizzard
4. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures - Funcom/Eidos
5. Warhammer Online: Age Of Reckoning - Mythic/EA
6. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Activision
7. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe - Electronic Arts
8. World Of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Collector's Edition - Blizzard
9. Fallout 3 - Bethesda Softworks
10. World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade - Blizzard
11. Call Of Duty: World At War - Activision
12. The Sims 2 FreeTime - Electronic Arts

A league table of game sales without Digital Distribution statistics is useles. Left 4 Dead and the Orange box, not to mention many of the others, would be much higher up the list.

19. Diablo Battle Chest

Really? Even 8 years after the release of Lord of Destruction, the Diablo series sells that well? Not that I object, I love Diablo, but it's just surprising.

Didn't EA recently claim Spore was the most pirated game in history? Interesting it was the #2 seller.

Blizzard is cleaning house. I think its about time they release Warcraft 4 as an RTS.
