Despite having been a PlayStation exclusive (barring Final Fantasy XI) for the past 12 years, Microsoft are certain that when Final Fantasy XIII finally goes on sale, the 360 version will be the more popular version.Commenting shortly after NPD figures for February were made available, a Microsoft spokesperson said that they expected releases of other Sony associated titles, such as Resident Evil 5 and Final Fantasy XIII, to sell better on the Xbox 360. A somewhat bold statement considering that XIII is to remain a PlayStation 3 exclusive in Japan, where the series is most popular.
"We're happy with the performance of Street Fighter IV on Xbox 360. It follows in the steps of franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Madden NFL which have historically been associated with PlayStation, that are now selling better on our platform," the representative added.
Street Fighter IV sales marginally favoured the Xbox 360 platform in February. Although this was expected due to the difference in install base numbers across the United States, the subsequent gap was a lot smaller than has been seen in previous multi-platform offerings.
Due for release later this year in Japan, Final Fantasy XIII is expected to hit shelves across North America and Europe in 2010.

Though, I'm looking forward to FF 13 regardless of the console.
I can't see Square reducing the quality of the prerendered movies so they won't be saving any space. Blue Dragon was 3 disks and will have nowhere near the content of FF13
it's wireless...so that's kinda the point. I haven't swapped disks since the 90s and I don't intend to start doing it.
You do know the 360 can install games right? At no point is a spinning disk faster & quiter than a hard drive.
yes but you still will have to wait for the install time for each disk over the time you play the game. Obviously not many people have the space to install 3 disks or 5 disks at one time, however many disks it will be. Even if you do just one disk at a time, the installs aren't exactly quick and you still have to put the disk in the tray for a cd check, so that changes nothing about the need for swapping disks.
I'm sorry I don't care how many things people come up with one disk is better than multi disks, period.
In Japan though it'll be a different story.
The game ain't even coming out there on the 360.
Look at performance of the JRPGs in the west so far, such as LO/Last Remnant/Star Ocean 4/Blue Dragon/etc.
oh boy i can't wait until i play the FFXIII demo. i've already pre-ordered it with the advent children complete.

It will break 1 million in Japan I believe.
In the West a cheaper 360 will surely help boost FF13 sales, but as I tried to point out above the West seems to have shunned JRPGs this generation with each of Squares last few efforts selling badly.
It should be noted most of them C/B class titles, FF is the big one, so it's bound to make more of an impact.
Still it will probably sell most in Japan and right now the japanese PS3 version will probably hit this year in advance of the USA/EU release, and it's not planned for the 360 over there.
MS better reissue that statement as "We think we'll sell more in Europe/USA", as as it stands they have very little chance of outselling Worldwide.
