What sort of shenanigans have you been up to this time, EA? It seems that during the promotional period for the Godfather II, EA may have sent out brass knuckles to members of the press, somehow forgetting the fact that shipping these is illegal, and illegal in the very state EA is based in.EA contacted Kotaku, stating that the company is currently asking for all of these back so they can be properly disposed of, but refused to comment further. EA might be in a nice bit of trouble because of this; have a read of the following excerpt from the California (the state where EA is based) Penal Code Section 12020(a):
Manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives , lends, or possesses any cane gun or wallet gun, any undetectable firearm, any firearm which is not immediately recognizable as a firearm, any camouflaging firearm container, any ammunition which contains or consists of any flechette dart, any bullet containing or carrying an explosive agent, any ballistic knife, any multiburst trigger activator, any nunchaku, any short-barreled shotgun, any short-barreled rifle, any metal knuckles, any belt buckle knife, any leaded cane, any zip gun, any shuriken, any unconventional pistol, any lipstick case knife, any cane sword, any shobi-zue, any air gauge knife, any writing pen knife, any metal military practice handgrenade or metal replica handgrenade, or any instrument or weapon of the kind commonly known as a blackjack, slungshot, billy, sandclub, sap, or sandbag.
Adding fuel to the fire, possessing an illegal weapon (such as brass knuckles) is a class 1 misdemeanor. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Keep an eye out for further information as it is revealed.

Aww, one can only hope
Aww, one can only hope
I would not hope for that. They publish a lot of games that I would miss if they were shut down.
And is quantity a stamp of quality? No, they produce a ton of crap and they deserve to get hit, hard and clean up their act as you said.
Someone else would publish them.
And that's what you call a personal opinion, I personally haven't enjoyed really anything published or created by EA in the last few years, most of it has been rubbish followed by 50 expansions. So stop this Hug, peace and love crap, I don't think they changed at all.
We're talking about their games
Ya that seam to be SOP with all Corporations
Ya they should fire the CEO instead, or shut down the whole corporation.
Yes, let's shut down the entire company over one blunder. In the long run, do the hundreds of people who lose their job matter?
None of this shut down the company crap. Just don't fire anyone over a stupid mistake like this. Enough people are unemployed at this time, this could be seen as cruel and unjust if more were made unemployed just because of a silly blunder!
That is exactly what I want to know. I mean... someone joking about it sure, but these actually being manufactured and sent out?! It makes you think, really.
I'm sure there had to be more to the promotion than just a pair of brass knuckles - something not listed in the news piece that would make the whole thing make a bit more sense.
I read through the Kotaku post a few times, and as far as I can tell, nope
That's how I got mine in the mail.
Haha
i love my br... i mean paperweight.
What, they had a box open ready to ship and - oh no, I accidentally tripped and dropped some brass knucks into the box? Then it was accidentally sealed and accidentally taken by the shipping guys?
Oh and BTW, what exactly is a "slungshot?"
You must be kidding.
I think he's trying to say that he doesn't expect there to be any criminal charges, despite the breaking of criminal law.
- So that's a good thing, right? BTW: Microsoft IS part of the gaming industry.
what?
I really wonder about the common sense of people sometimes. Multiple individuals were involved in this, and not one said that it might be a bad idea? Maybe we should look up the state statues regarding shipping weapons before we even order the damn things?
