Nintendo has announced the release dates and prices in the United States for both the MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resort. The Wii MotionPlus add-on will go on sale June 8, a month before it will be available overseas for $19.99 USD. Wii Sports Resort will be released the following month on July 26 and it will be bundled with the MotionPlus accessory for $49.99.

When used with specially designed games, Wii MotionPlus tracks players' movements in finer detail and with greater accuracy than ever before, building upon the innovative wireless function of the motion-sensing Wii Remote™ controller. Even the slightest twist of the wrist or turn of the body is replicated exactly on the TV screen, allowing users to become even more immersed in Wii game play.

Wii Sports Resort takes the inclusive, fun and intuitive controls of the original Wii Sports to the next level, introducing a whole new set of entertaining and physically immersive activities. With the deep control enhancements of Wii MotionPlus, veteran Wii users and newcomers alike can enjoy unprecedented gaming precision as they cruise on a water scooter, duel with swords, throw a Frisbee® and much more.

With the new MotionPlus add-on priced at $19.99, the Wii Remote priced at $39.99 and the Nunchuk priced at $19.99, it will now cost $80 for a complete remote for your Wii.

Yeah, that's where Nintendo gets us. The Wii was dirt cheap to start off, but the accessories cost a fortune. Extra remotes, numchuks, Wii Fit boards, and mow MotionPlus. I'm sure I'm even missing something.

Precisely. I bought a Wii on release date for £179.99. Then I went and bought:

- Second Wii Remote: £30
- 2 Nunchuks: £30
- 2 Classic Controllers: £30
- 2 Games: £60

Total cost? £329.99 (US$492.57). For the same price, you could buy an Xbox 360 bundle with 6 games and two controllers.

The Wii is a total con, but because it breaks down into small numbers, no-one notices. That said, I still enjoy my Wii

Except that it'll cost $79.97...

Does the nunchuck still go in the end?
Does it need a new protector?
