The PC Gaming Alliance suffered a bit of a blow yesterday after a few of its members decided that in the current economy they cannot justify the budget required to maintain an active role in the organization.

Among those few members leaving the group whose mission is to improve the landscape for PC gamers, developers and publishers alike are Activision Blizzard and hardware vendor Acer.

Other major industry players such as Microsoft, Nvidia, Intel and AMD are still part of the PCGA, but Activision's departure leaves the group a bit lighter on the game publishing and developing side of things.

huh, well, the parts that need to finance this is hardware companies and Microsoft. those are the companies that needs games to up their sales. Game developers should not be forced to pay (very much at least) to be a part of it.

If there were noone creating games for PC's, there would be no marked for the top notch gaming hardware either.

Hm... Now I'm curious what a membership to the PCGA costs... It must be substantial to even show up as a reasonable cost savings option on the P&L... ?

Oh boo hoo. Activision only cares about one title and is flushing the rest down the toilet.

Brain-dead monkeys smoking pot could run a video game company better than the morons at Activision.

World OF Warcraft?, Diablo, Starcraft?
OR you meant the Activision side of the house titles?

Anyone else find it particularly odd that the company who publishes WoW (arguably the most popular MMO) is leaving cause of financial difficulties? I call BS.

they didn't say financial difficulties. just they can't justify the money spent on it..there is a difference.

PC gaming hopefully has a future. I am not too worried...but at the same time I am.

Call of Duty for PC is so much funner than on the consoles. Strange mods, great graphics, it feels smoother...
