Earlier today at Microsoft's E3 concert briefing, Hideo Kojima came on stage to announce the latest in the Metal Gear Solid line of games, Metal Gear Rising.

Metal Gear Solid 4 has always been rumoured to be arriving on the Xbox360, even after its release and the constant denial from Kojima, who is the mind behind the whole Metal Gear series, that Metal Gear Solid 4 would not be coming to the Xbox 360.

However, while the rumours were seemingly wrong about Metal Gear Solid 4, what has been announced today is that Metal Gear Rising will be coming to the Xbox 360 as a first for Microsoft's Xbox platform.
Very little is known about Metal Gear Solid Rising, what was shown was only a small teaser which contained and ended with an image of Raiden, well known in the MGS franchise since its second incarnation.

The trailer then ends with another character, Colonel Campbell from previous games, announcing that "Raiden is back"

For those who don't know much about the character, Raiden was the main character you played in Metal Gear Solid 2, to much dismay I might add as he was mostly disliked for his look and character personality, the player wanted to play Solid Snake, but got stuck with Raiden.

He later made an appearance in Metal Gear Solid 4 this time returning completely transformed. No longer was he the white haired boy that most hated, but instead had become a Cyborg Ninja that everyone now came to love, not only that, wished they could play.
This now seems to be the case with Metal Gear Solid Rising, players will finally get to play with the Cyborg Version of Raiden found in Metal Gear Solid 4.

It is unknown if this game will be Xbox360 exclusive or if the game will be coming to the Playstation 3 as well as no details as to any more platforms have been released.
The trailer that was shown at Microsoft's E3 press Conference follows.

People have been expecting a MGS on 360 for a while now, looks like prayers have been answered. Microsoft are landing some heavy punches this E3!

Here's to hoping that Nintendo and Sony have something that will steal the show. E3 2008 was a bore, especially Nintendo.

Guess it's not then, don't know where IGN got that from - probably just desperate for ad clicks

Who cares? One less reason to think about dropped 400euros for a ps3 for me. And even if it's not a port of MGS4, I can live without having watched... I mean played 4.

Awesome, I was waiting for a Metal Gear Solid game for the Xbox360 because I didn't have the cash to shell out for a PS3. I'm pretty much broke since I got to pay back student loans now..

...as a first for Microsoft's Xbox platform...

I gues neowin is not a xbox fanboy much. If you go back in time, MGS2 substance was on the fat xbox

On a second note, PS3 is pretty much screwed with its metal gear migrating to xbox. Will PSP Go save it?

I couldn't care less if it wasn't exclusive to the Xbox. As long as it's ON the Xbox! That's all that matters.

Agreed jamesyfx.
