Get Arrested Development on the Xbox 360 without Xbox Live Gold

If you're like us, you can barely contain your happiness at the thought that tomorrow, the new season of Arrested Development will launch on Netflix. And what better way to spend your weekend than watching the new episodes on your Xbox 360 Netflix app.

Oh what's that you say? No Gold subscription? Well Microsoft has you covered. This weekend all Xbox Live members can access the Netflix app even if they don't have Gold accounts. This way everyone gets to enjoy the Bluths without worrying about Microsoft's subscription service. Though, of course, you will still need a Netflix subscription, which is $7.99/month but you can always simply sign up for a free trial.

And just in case you need a little fix until tomorrow here's the official trailer for the new season of Arrested Development.

Love Arrested Development! It's not for everyone, it has a certain type of humor. Will be watching at 12:01 in the morning on my PS3, yay!

It is an odd election of an show. Arrested Development is a nice show but it is not so great. Also, i don't sure if it is ideal to target this show to the xbox customers.

Why? Do you feel you know something that Netflix doesn't? Are you the one looking at the views they've gotten, the cult following the show has, and the demand for its return?

Is there any trick to install the Netflix app on a non US account? I'm not signing up for a second love gold, but had Netflix on my ps3 in AUS by setting up a us account and downloading the app, then having it available to the AUS account.

'for this weekend only'

screw that. I'll use the PSN version which does SuperHD, and don't require another subscription after the weekend.

I wonder if MS will do more free weekends with the X1 or if we're in for other changes around apps/services like Netflix.

I'm kind of hoping all their TV related things, including access to apps like Netflix, will be separated from the Xbox Live subscription with the X1.

Doubt it, they make a lot of money from having 'pointless' gold subscriptions just to get people to use netflix, doubt they'd suddenly get rid of that income.

It could be replaced by other things, like a broader app store where they take a cut of that. Or other features that could replace it that we don't know about.
