Global Operations Single Player Preview

Homelanfed checks out the single player part of Global Operations, the upcoming team based first person shooter from developer Barking Dog Studios.

"We covered the basics of Global Ops's gameplay in our first preview so here we will take a look at how the single player game works. The single player allows the player to play each mission one level at a time, with the next level unlocked after the previous mission has been successfully completed. Like playing in multiplayer mode you select which player class you wish to use and then what weapons and items you want to have for the money. Each level has three degrees of difficultly (easy, medium and hard) and the bots on either side seems to react better and more realistically with each increase in difficulty. You can order the bots to follow your orders through the use of a few button clicks.

The "Global" part of Global Operations is well earned. In addition to the two missions that were included in the multiplayer beta test (Mexico and Quebec) the full version has a number of new missions. One level takes place in Chechnya where the Russian team has to take out two anti-aircraft batteries in snowy and mountainous terrain. Once that is completed, an airstrike is called in to clear a section of the level where the team goes after its final objective: eliminating a rebel leader. Another level takes place in the good old USA in a huge dam where a strike team has to take out terrorists who want to blow up the dam's turbines. You or another member of your team has to defuse the bombs that the terrorists have planted in the turbine rooms."
