God of War II slices and dices March sales

Think the Playstation 2 is going to slowly wither away and die? Think again. According to the latest NPD sales numbers, God of War II sold 833,209 copies in March, and grossed (get this) $41,531,780 smackers! Guitar Hero II on the Xbox 360, which only went on sale April 2nd (NPD tracks from the 4th to the 7th every month) sold 291,434 units, and grossed $25,578,100. Pretty impressive for 5 days worth of sales. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 on the 360 actually sold more copies, that game sold 394,481 units and grossed $23,343,680. In any event, here are some of the top sellers per system for March:


  1. World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Expansion Pack - $3,345,464 grossed
  2. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars - $3,262,078 grossed
  3. The Sims 2 Seasons Expansion Pack - Electronic Arts
  4. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars Kane Edition - Electronic Arts

Xbox 360:
  1. Guitar Hero 2 With Guitar - $25,578,100 grossed; 291,434 units sold
  2. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 - $23,343,680 grossed; 394,481 units sold
  3. Major League Baseball 2K7
  4. Def Jam Icon
  5. Crackdown

Playstation 2:
  1. God of War II - $41,531,780 grossed; 833,209 units sold
  2. Guitar Hero 2 With Guitar - $11,329,750 grossed; 143,399 units sold

Playstation 3:
  1. MotorStorm - $11,896,100 grossed; 199,075 units sold
  2. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - $4,463,276 grossed; 75,138 units sold

Nope, no doubt at all. Not only because God of War II was kick ass, but because only one other worth while game was released for the PS2...

Yeah I know, I saw. I was just making a joke GoW2 is one of the best games to come out in a long time, IMO. It owning the top sales spot is no surprise to me.
