Google launches Mail Goggles

Remember that time when you sent an email to an ex when you were drunk? Perhaps an email to that cute girl in the office that you've always wanted to speak to or perhaps a rant at your boss under the influence of beer?

Google to the rescue! Google has announced "mail goggles". When you enable Mail Goggles, it will check that you're really sure you want to send that late night Friday email. And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you're in the right state of mind?

Google's idea is to prevent those embarrassing mishaps on a Friday evening after a few alcoholic beverages. Perhaps phone manufacturers could implement this too as I regularly need electronic restraint on a Friday evening from txting the wrong person at the wrong time.

Man this would have saved me the other night when coming back to the hotel after hitting the clubs, wired and not ready to sleep and sending stupid emails. Now if we can get voice mail masks. Hahahaha!!

This is a great idea!

I make sure I stay away from the computer when drunk, I don't want to break it. "don't drink and shell script" I say.

I LOVE google. They have a great sence of humor. Even if this isn't a joke.

I would love to have this setup on my account after 10pm on Friday / Saturday nights.

What a kiss up.

Apple/MS/Unix/etc company that you don't like does this and you would have been all over them.

I'm pretty sure I can do basic maths just as well when im drunk as when im sober. Unless I'm really off my rocker to the point where just using the computer to begin with would be an effort. Then I doubt I would be sending any emails.

Though I like that they are thinking about this kind of stuff. What I need is texting control. Man, some texts I have sent while undeer the influence that I wish I could take back x)

Vista programmers could have used this before compiling :P

sure you could but i guess its more like

"aaw im drunk... i so want my girlfriend back, now that im drunk... alright, so ill write an email..."

*write*
*write crap*
*write more*

"alright... send... huh? maths? aw you know what, **** it. ill head to bed..."

;)

Sometimes I send messages I shouldn't send. Like the time I told that girl I had a crush on her over text message. Or the time I sent that late night email to my ex-girlfriend that we should get back together.

LOL.

I did something like this to my Ex last year, we broke up almost 19 years ago.

anyhow I used facebook, (how I found her), I was under the influence of alcohol, solving a math problem while intoxicated is not much of a problem for me unless, im really drunk and then I wouldn't be near a computer.
So this Goggles is pretty useless.

they need this for facebook. most of the time after a night of partying when i get up and check for messages / wall posts i have to frantically delete drunken posts ive made on other people, as well as embarrasing status changes.

Damn that is actually pretty funny of a tool. I can see its use. I can also see the drunk people just disabling it. But hey its always good to try right?? As for facebook, yes i really agree to add that, maybe even to your phone for text messages? haha

i don't understand how people b!tch about this if is optional, is not like they put a gun in your head to use it.

Because alcohol + Internet = a good idea...?

Oh well, I guess it helps those poor ******* that can't restrain themselves and/or get over their ex's.

the internet = google mail
teh internets = mail googles??
oh wait i misread it, its actually a G , not an O ... nevermind

Jesus christ, the amount of posts here taking this seriously...

It's a bit of a laugh, bloody hell, i'm going to take a wild stab in the dark, drop my bait in the water, and guess 70%+ of those serious replies were American.

Thank you macrosslover. That comment honistly made me laugh :D

Google is like a best friend, there to stop you embarrassing yourself after a night out. Just wish they could also stop you throwing up over the keyboard and having to clean up last nights kebab off the walls.
