Google Now adds home screen widget, improved movie cards, real estate listings

Google's search app for Android has been updated, adding a widget for Google Now which can be added to your home screen or lock screen. From now on you won't have to open Google Now to see such things as weather, boarding passes and appointments.

Movie cards have been updated; adding ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, and if you find one you just have to watch you can purchase tickets from Fandango and Google Now will remind you when to leave and pull up the ticket once you get there.

Looking for a new home? A new source has also been added to Google Now which provides nearby real estate listings from Zillio. It can provide detailed information such as price, size, rooms and much more.

Google's updated Search app requires Android 4.1 and you can pick it up on the Google Play Store.

How to add it to the stock lock screen? Or would I require any 3rd party lockscreen app?

Widgets in the lock screen were officially announced with Jellybean 4.2, so you'll need to have 4.2 or above. In the lock screen scroll to the left and press the + button. Then cycle through until you find the Google Now widget.

Other lockscreens such as WidgetLocker (paid) support widgets in the lockscreen

Gotcha.. I only have 4.1.1 for now, hopefully the 4.2 update comes soon for me

Thanks!

If Google are really interested in being a service for everyone, they would be working on iOS and Windows Phone, Blackberry etc implementations of Google Now with live tiles, notifications, etc

man that looks Hideous way to rip off windows 8 metro look and the menu bar icons are yuk what a mess

Looks nothing like Metro. Try again.

Google Now needs conversation flow for phone functions like sending messages. Until then it's mostly unused as even Samsungs dodgy voice client is better for interaction but sucks balls for recognition.

The last screenshot looks like something my Live Tiles already do on Windows Phone.

The difference is the Android widgets don't behave like ADHD 5 yr olds blinking in your face incessantly the way live tiles do

You sound like you have never touched a windows phone. "blink in your face incessantly" sounds nothing like live tiles.

Already installed. Wish there were more widget settings tho. Maybe I am missing something but I don't see anything. Maybe in a future update.
