The first GUIOlympics will cover WindowBlinds, the popular GUI skinning program from Stardock who is providing the prizes and prize money. The contest will begin on February 1, 2002. That is the day when you can submit as many skins as you would like.
There will be approximately 15 categories (category examples would be "Most original skin, Best OS style skin, Best use of color, Weirdest skin). A full list of the award categories can be found here.
On February 21st, the judging of the first category will begin. For 48 hours, users will be able to vote for their favorite in that category. The final winner will be selected by a panel of judges made up of some of the major sites involved. Every other day, a new category will be up for award until the final category, "Best Overall User Interface" comes up. The judges will award a gold, silver, bronze and two honorable mention awards for each category.
