Heavy Rain director already written next game

David Cage, the writer-director of PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavy Rain has already written the plot for his next game, Neowin has learnt via EuroGamer, and it is reportedly going to be "very different" from the serial-killer thriller.

Speaking on GameTrailers TV, Cage said he wanted to "explore and discover new things" in his next game. He then revealed that he has already basically written the next game.

"I have written the next game, so I have a very clear idea," he said. "It's not fully written, it still in the synopsis stage, but I have a very clear idea for where I want to go next.

"I don't want just to make some kind of sequel or whatever, I really want to continue to explore and discover new things and experiment, this is what I'm really excited about."

"It’s going to be very different, and I think it’s going to be very surprising," he added.

How different? In an interview with EuroGamer prior to the release of Heavy Rain, Cage reportedly hinted at the possibility of using the Heavy Rain format to tell a romantic comedy, or perhaps one of Shakespeare's tragedies.

Fortunately it seems we won't have to wait long to find out. Asked if it would be a while before we saw it, Cage responded, "Yeah, maybe less than you think."

I bought this game a couple of weekends ago, played it for quite a bit on the saturday evening, then nothing all week, then last sunday I played it from 9pm-12.35am and I have completed it, it is a VERY gripping story and you want to find out whats happening next, I found it to be quite a moving story in places as well. Shame it was so short, but I enjoyed it, loved the story, loved the gameplay (which I thought I would hate!) and so it was well worth the money.

Awesome game. Borrowed it off a friend for the weekend. I completed it in one day. Its a little short but then I guess I was playing it from 8AM until about 5PM. Even my wife watched me play and she hates computer games. This game really is the closest you will get to an interactive movie.

Just for you to know, you may replay the game and have a slightly different experience of the plot taking different decisions. This is also an interesting aspect of this game.

Probably not. Rumors are flying around that Quantic Dream might be bought next by Sony.

Note that they are rumors though.

I never understand why developers never develop games for PC considering the games engines of today are multi platform. Although, granted it does take longer to code for PC than for console. I hope they bring Heavy Rain to the PC.
