HP doubles recycled PC rebates

Not to be outdone by Dell's recent revamp of its PC recycling programme, HP has said it will double the incentive it offers to consumers for handing in their old, unwanted computers.

Like Dell, HP charges punters for the privilege of sending back their old kit. Dell has a $15 blanket fee; HP charges between $13 and $34, depending on the kind of equipment being passed its way.

However, HP will now offer up to $100 off the purchase of new goods at its own e-commerce site, hpshopping.com, to anyone who makes use of its recycling service during April. Again, the exact size of the discount - provided through an e-coupon - depending on what kind of kit you send to HP.
