HP ProLiant Web Jam

The event takes place Monday, April 6th - Tuesday, April 7th, and includes tours of HP with presentations from some of the best HP TSG experts, and many opportunities to speak with HP personnel. During this event we will be participating in a live HP "web jam" session, taking a look at and discussing the newest HP ProLiant G6 Servers. The web jam includes virtual sessions which are open for all to attend and participate in. For more information, including a list of sites and bloggers who will be attending, and to register to participate in the event, visit the HP ProLiant web jam site.

I registered and all of a sudden got kicked out.

Anyway can somebody ask how they are making their smartstart software better. about 2 weeks ago i used it to setup a new hp server and it completely screwed up a windows 2008 setup and i had to redo the install using the windows 2008 dvd instead of the smartstart software.

Also ask about making their array utilities more informational. They dont even give you a time frame for how long a raid array rebuild would take.

This is not added to the rebuild process because it depends on the amount of data that is going to be rebuilt, server load and the rebuild priority you've set on ACU. Giving an estimated time with these factors would be very inaccurate.

As far as the SmartStart issue that you had...what exactly happened? Did something go wrong when the PSP was being installed or it didn't even complete the OS install part? Any details would be helpful...

The live chat sessions have started, and there are experts from HP, and Intel as well as bloggers from around the world available to answer your questions and chat with you if you're interested.

We just went through a quick run down of how the sessions will operate tomorrow and it looks very cool. The roster of attendees signed up to attend includes people from all walks of the IT world, and from around the world. It's definitely going to be worht attending if you're at all interested in HP enterprise products.

Must check this out. We use HP ProLiant servers pretty extensively at work (150+). Really like the ProLiant DL38x series though not quite as enamoured by the DL585 G5's we just bought to do virtualisation with..

Caught up with some specs and information on the G6's last week from the Mike Harpur update and the new DL 360's and DL380's are looking really rather decent

Since I don't live in texas can you please let hp know they really need to redo their server management software.

Trying to troubleshoot a raid array in their servers is a pain.

Edited to make it clear that public participation is available as a "virtual" event. You can register and attend the session online and chat with myself and other site representatives from around the world as well as with some experts from HP.

Thanks for letting me know i will be there virtually then. Hp really needs to make its software for their servers better. Dells openmanage software is much better.

I can't say i've had trouble with HP's software on our servers we've had for the last 10+ years... That said, it can always improve.

I'll definately try and get onto this event, looks good!
