HTC Windows Phone 8S announced, brings along the bold color

HTC has announced their mid-range play into the Windows Phone 8 marketplace. The Windows Phone 8S by HTC is a vibrant looking device that packs a punch of color to hopefully make it stand out on retail shelves. The design is supposed to resemble that of a pillow with a softly rounded back and a rectangle facing front.

The device packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1 GHz chipset, 512 MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, 1700 mAh battery, GPS, Beats Audio, 5 MP camera and Wi-Fi but the device, like the 8X, does not have NFC. The device also has a removable SD card, which does separate itself a bit from the 8X with its fixed 16 GB of storage.

Display-wise you are getting a 4.0-inch Super LCD panel with a WVGA resolution, coated with Gorilla Glass as you would expect . The device is also not particularly slim, coming in at 10.28mm although the curving should help to hide this.

Look for this device to hit retail shelves in early November, alongside the 8X, after the likely Windows Phone 8 announcements by Microsoft at the end of October on 150+ operators in 50+ countries.

I'd take the looks of this with the guts of the HTC 8x. 4in screen is a little small for me and the rest of the 8s specs are average for a budget phone but the design of the shell is pretty damn cool.

I think the 512 is far too low for me to consider an upgrade. Both the HD2 and HD7 I own have 512, and the 8S should be light-years ahead!

The features aren't that exciting and storage is terrible but with the sd slot available kinda makes up for it.
At first I thought it was a great looking phone, but I think it's only because they matched the WP8 theme to the colour of the phone. In other photos where the theme was a different colour to the phone, it didn't look quite as attactive.

No NFC?
4GB of onboard storage?
Same old hardware HTC have now?
No wonder they are a sinking ship. I had the Desire and quickly realised it's limitations. Shame as I want a WP8 but not a Nokia

Ive never understood why people complain about lack of NFC. Its bascially a redudant feature here in the UK as its not really used anywhere. As for the 4GB storage according to HTC's website you can expand it with a micro SD card upto 16GB maybe more.

Well, this is a budget model.

I think this looks better than the 8X, its less of a lumia rip-off. And is that clock / weather double tile HTC's?

This does look very nice. I really like HTC's build quality too. I'll definitely be looking at their line of WP8 devices...

Beautful device, nonetheless, it's about damn time HTC had started developing new hardware that does not look symmetrical towards others, even though it is quite identical to the 8X

That looks really nice. Best HTC hardware I've ever seen...
While the visual design is very unified, especially with matching up the tiles with the colors of the physical device, it looks like a child's toy, but that's just my opinion.

Obviously you've never seen a child's toy

I can't even come up with anything to say to your comment because it doesn't make any sense. In order for me to say something looks like a child's toy, I would have to have seen a child's toy to make a comparison based on looks. This thing looks looks like a cheap child's toy. That is an opinion. Don't get butt hurt over an opinion.

It just does. It is like looking at a Nissan Juke and thinking it looks like a frog. There is no reason it to be compared to a frog, but doesn't change the fact that I personally think(meaning it is an opinion) that a Nissan Juke looks like a frog and the 8s looks like a child's play thing.

No it doesn't, get your eyes checked and stop hanging out with children it's clearly affecting you
