Images purport to show Nokia 41Mpx Lumia EOS with aluminium body

We first saw leaked images of the rumored Lumia EOS device a few days ago, but new images suggest that Nokia's upcoming flagship phone might come in two flavors: a polycarbonate one - which we've already seen, and an aluminium one as seen in these images.

The Lumia EOS is a device that's expected to bring the whole 41 Mpx Pureview experience to Windows Phone. Some images, purportedly showing the device, hit the web a few days ago and they lead us to believe that the new phone might be made out of polycarbonate and feature a large hump on the back. This is similar to the way the camera sensor was masked in the original 808 Pureview device, while also keeping true to the Lumia aesthetics.

However, we know that Nokia also has a passion for aluminium, as shown by the recently launched Lumia 925.

These new images seem to show a variant of the EOS with an aluminium body. If these images prove real, Nokia might be launching two versions of the same device, but that seems somewhat unlikely. A more plausible idea is that this is simply a prototype shell, one of many design iterations that the EOS device would have gone through before going into production.

Whatever this is, we won't have too long to wait as Nokia is already preparing to show off something special later this summer

41 megapixals is absurd, first a 41mp photo will be like 20 mb and whats the purpose? There's so many things that make a picture look good and higher megapixak doesn't equate to better photo quality.

Troublesome pattern... people jumping on products and attacking them before learning anything about them.

The output isn't a 41mp photo. They oversample with the 41mp sensor, then can remove grain/noise by averaging or some other method to downsample it to a great pictures that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. And it allows for a lossless digital zoom, which is nice.

as others have said, this is not a simple 41 mp camera, which if it was i would agree with you about. This is also no new and has been discussed to death on the internet, the fact that comments like this still pop up is a testament to peoples ignorance.

why would it seem unlikely?? it's the same pattern they've been following already, at&t/920, Verizon/928, tmob/925

These parts look unfinished. Most likely they would be finished by being anodized with a dye, powder coated or painted. Which would hide much of the machine marks and/or roughness.

it's obviously a prototype model

Well, all im curious about is if I can finally buy a high end nokia on telus for once.

I'd be more inclined to think the polycarbonate one was an earlier prototype, and this is a production model. This one has the MP stated on the camera hump, whereas the other one had the typical pre production XX placeholder
