Instagram finally coming to Windows Phone?

It looks like the super popular photo sharing and editing app Instagram is finally coming to Windows Phone devices. The app, already available for iOS and Android, which was purchased by Facebook for $1 billion, is expected to come to the platform according to sources talking to The Verge.

Nokia also posted this video to its YouTube channel last week, which shows off the display technology that is used in such devices as the newly announced Lumia 920 smartphone. The video seems to show a look at the live tile for Instagram for Windows Phone at 0:51, however The Verge also notes that this could be the Vimeo app. Nevertheless, they say they have confirmed separately that Instagram will be coming to Windows Phone. No word as of yet when the app will be available, or if the app will run on all Windows Phone devices or be a Windows Phone 8 exclusive.

I too am bemused a how this app is so popular, I mean it adds a filter to a live shot and posts it to its own network which you can then share on FB or something. So basically you take a picture that is instantly ruined by a crappy filter which you can never ever roll back (as opposed to running it through an app later so you have a nice basic original as well), and share it. Have I missed something?

Instagram is the dumbest app I have seen hyped up.

It's not like every platform didn't already have an Instagram clone before Instagram existed (Molome, So Mee, etc).
Instagram must have some good marketing.

Remember when instagram was released for Android, and the hissy-fit some of the Apple fanboys had over losing their exclusive app? It will be fun watching this.

I was an iPhone user at the time and found it weird to. I didn't really get that. I doubt any fuss will be made now that it is already on two platforms.

lol yep. Apple fans are so ****ing elitist for what exactly? How does having an app on iOS only make someone feel superior to others?

They can't really be hipster since everyone practically uses it.

I'm sorry Windows Phone users - this really is a ****ty app, and it's a shame this is even considered a form of art. You guys really are not missing much.

Surely what is and isn't art is up to the person viewing it.

I hope so. This is one of the apps that I would miss when moving from iOS to WP8.
Don't worry, there are some great alternatives already available to ruin your photos with

The tile below the IE tile? That's the Camera tile, looks the same as the camera app tile in WP7.5
