Internet Download Manager 6.19 Build 3

Internet Download Manager (IDM) is a tool to increase download speeds by up to 5 times, resume and schedule downloads. Comprehensive error recovery and resume capability will restart broken or interrupted downloads due to lost connections, network problems, computer shutdowns, or unexpected power outages. IDM integrates seamlessly into Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Avant Browser, and all other popular browsers to automatically handle your downloads. You can also drag and drop files, or use Internet Download Manager from command line. The program supports proxy servers, ftp and http protocols, firewalls, redirects, cookies, authorization, MP3 audio and MPEG video content processing.

Never really have seen the point of having this?

I guess if you have a totally crappy connection or are still on dial up, maybe, but otherwise, what's the point?

It definitely can't increase your speed and definitely not up to 5 times!

I have 24mbit and yes, it does indeed speed up my downloads by opening multiple streams for the same download it saturates your bandwidth. Often a single stream download will use just a fraction of it. Besides that it has a stack of useful features (to me, not you) too and it integrates very well with browsers and other software. I bought it years ago as it was simply the best of it's kind.
