iPod touch featuring 2MP camera also found in Vietnam

Vietnam has potentially once again been the source of a leaked Apple product, an iPod touch sporting a 2 megapixel camera. A post on the forum of Tinhte has shown a device very similar to the one spotted on eBay last month.

Engadget picked up on the story saying a sticker shown in one of the photos appears to indicate it is a 64GB prototype of a new iPod touch. Besides the new addition of the camera, the exterior of the device appears to be the same as the last generation.

The iPod touch also appears to run and sync with iTunes as indicated in a video provided by the website. The "DVT-1" stamp on the rear of the device also reveals this was an early design verification unit which may mean this is not the final design of a new iPod touch.

The dock connector and 3.5mm jack on the bottom, volume controls on the left side, and sleep button staying on the top also give legitimacy to the device. This was also the case in the previous eBay leak and the iPods in both cases look almost identical.

A release date is uncertain for a future iPod touch but WWDC starting June 7 is a possibility.

The Zune is still quite attractive regardless. If Apple were crazy and truly wanted to kill the competition they'd make iTunes more attractive. Make it mind boggling insanely fast, Windows Native look and feel ....

I think that would go a long way to ensure Apple's dominance.

Of course Microsoft's own Zune software spots a picture perfect Aero interface that follows their own guidelines... Oh wait...

Apple's products aren't complete? I'm confused?

I agree, but Zune is blazing fast not like the slow, buggy iTunes.

One of Apple's suppliers recently expanded to Vietnam if I recall, this is the source of the leaks. With so many leaks coming out Apple have absolutely nothing new to announce at the WWDC.

Now that Apple are an extremely popular company their past ability to control everything exists no more so expect leaks like this to continue for a long time to come.

I don't think Vietnam will be getting many more contracts from Apple.

Yes, because the whole country stole the prototype and leaked details of it onto the web. Keel them all !

This leak looks completely fake. Look at the OS image. Cmon...a box of cheerios for the serial? Pretty lame joke.

It's one of those goofy test OS'es Apple puts on. We've seen these before.

The only thing I admire Apple for is that they're smart enough to rip lots of people off with outdated technology mantled in shiny casing.

Yea, Apple is leaking this stuff on purpose or there are a bunch of ****ing morons working for the company...or both.

Also, 2mp?? Really? Ohhhhhh, I fogot. They will include 5mp camera in the next revision and make everyone pay/upgrade in another year. Never mind!

Nope. We'll include a 3.2 MP camera on the next revolutionary revision.

not to point out the obvious, but why would apple in their test dev os (the one that is running) use commercial products as icons? (cherios)

Calling this one fake, the same thing happened last gen (3G Touch) everyone was so **** sure it would have a camera too and look how that turned out...until Apple officially announce it, I'm not convinced.

wow, people still like being stuck in Apple's land of propriety? And paying more than twice as much as they should? Apple does have good gear and software but it's not worth the elitist price they charge. They must have taken a page from the Obama playbook on how to screw the public while ignoring their voice forever. These leaks prove that you can't control the world the way you wish. The way to not have a product get leaked is not to have it made. Otherwise it'll always see the light of day before it was intended. Apple just doesn't know how to take a social marketing moment to their advantage yet. They still freak out like a record company exec finding out the internet is still serving free tunes.
