Is December 8 the US launch date for the Galaxy Nexus?

Remember all those rumors that said that the Galaxy Nexus was going to be released here in the US by Verizon on Black Friday, November 25, or soon afterward? Well, it looks like you can put those rumors to bed as neither Verizon, Samsung or Google has uttered anything official about the first Android 4.0 phone being released in that time period.

But now we have yet another possible target date. Droid-Life claims to have received not one but two leaked marketing documents from Verizon. Both of them indicated that December 8 is the date to look for the Galaxy Nexus to become available here in the US.

There's no word as to why Samsung and Verizon are making US residents wait a few more weeks before we can get our hands on the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered phone. UK citizens got to hold on to the device earlier this week. So far it looks like the early reviews are positive about not just the phone itself but Android 4.0 as well.

Meanwhile, someone has already discovered a cool Easter Egg that's buried in the Android 4.0 code. If you dare, check out the video below to see it in action. For those of you who don't want your OS Easter Egg hunt to be spoiled, let's just say that a well known Internet meme is involved.

Will this be out with AT&T GSM bands + LTE?

No. They only announced a GSM version and a CDMA + LTE version.
Which means:
Verizon = 4G LTE Yes
T-Mobile/AT&T = Possible with HSDPA+
Sprint = NO!

I can't wait to drop $500.00+ US Dollars on this technological bad boy!
I was thinking about buying the new iphone until I found out it was the iphone 4s and not the Iphone 5 I decided to just go with the Galaxy Nexus.

I find it incredible that this phone is so well hidden on all the carrier websites. It's not even on the front page, unlike the Nokia Lumia and iPhone 4, which are advertised everywhere!

Maybe because it's not really out yet.
Only on Phones4u isn't that great for the other sites.

I don't understand what you mean.
It's available on a number of networks but to find the phone you have to hunt through the websites. I would of thought they would be pushing it on the front page of each website, considering how good the phone is supposed to be.

i get ads for it everywhere, but I found it useless since the phone is not available nor is there enough carrier/release date information.

It's available in the UK, on a number of different networks. Just not well featured in their online stores.

I love how the major review sites are reluctant to call this the best smartphone on the market because they are so heavily apple biased.

They all basically have. I mean sure they've not actually directly said so, but reading the reviews basically implies they think so.

Because the US always have everything before the UK?

Actually it's because Verizon released two flagship phones. Verizon does want them to sell so that's why they keep pushing it.

I dont really care. Ice Cream Sandwich source code is out. That is all that is important.

Thanks Google!

Because US does everything backwards.

UK , like the rest of the world is GSM. Verizon is CDMA + LTE. That is the reason for the wait.

It is why they didn't release it yet. HTC Rezound and Droid RAZR!

I haven't been able to decide what phone I want, this or the RAZR, but I think that with a removable battery and a slightly higher res screen, this will win.

I currently have a Galaxy S phone (Fascinate) I bought off eBay this spring and have CM7 on it. Generally, I love it, but I do feel that Verizon's 3G speeds are too slow to do any serious browsing, and we have 4G in the area I live.
