Is December 8 the US launch date for the Galaxy Nexus?

Remember all those rumors that said that the Galaxy Nexus was going to be released here in the US by Verizon on Black Friday, November 25, or soon afterward? Well, it looks like you can put those rumors to bed as neither Verizon, Samsung or Google has uttered anything official about the first Android 4.0 phone being released in that time period.

But now we have yet another possible target date. Droid-Life claims to have received not one but two leaked marketing documents from Verizon. Both of them indicated that December 8 is the date to look for the Galaxy Nexus to become available here in the US.

There's no word as to why Samsung and Verizon are making US residents wait a few more weeks before we can get our hands on the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered phone. UK citizens got to hold on to the device earlier this week. So far it looks like the early reviews are positive about not just the phone itself but Android 4.0 as well.

Meanwhile, someone has already discovered a cool Easter Egg that's buried in the Android 4.0 code. If you dare, check out the video below to see it in action. For those of you who don't want your OS Easter Egg hunt to be spoiled, let's just say that a well known Internet meme is involved.
