Leak claims to reveal LG Nexus 5, complete with wildly OTT specs

An anonymous tipster claims to have revealed the first glimpse of a supposed new ‘LG Nexus 5’, along with the kind of specs that appear to tick the boxes of a tech-head’s wish list. There’s a good chance that this is all nonsense – but we’ll put it out there and let you be the judge.

The handset – codenamed ‘Megalodon’, after a long-extinct giant shark – was revealed to Android And Me, and is said to feature a spacious 5.2-inch Full HD (1920x1080px) OLED display, along with a 2.1MP camera up front, capable of recording 1080p video at 30fps, and a 16MP shooter around the back, offering 1080p video recording at 60fps, or 4K (yes, 4K) recording at 30fps.

The processor of this thing is said to be similarly superlative – a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, no less – along with 3GB of RAM, while storage options of up to 64GB are apparently on the cards.

Chuck in an integrated DVB-T television antenna, 3300mAh battery (compared with 2300mAh in the HTC One and 2600mAh in the Samsung Galaxy S4), front stereo speakers and gesture controls, and frankly it does all start to seem a bit fanciful... but the new handset is supposedly due to launch in October.

What do you think? Are we looking at the next big thing in Google’s Nexus line? Or is this just the stuff of dreams, the product of nothing more than an overactive imagination? Let us know your thoughts below!

Maybe this rumour is some experiment?

I would like a micro SD slot on the Nexus!

So I guess this is gonna be separate from the X-Phone. The X-phone is supposed to be announced in May, release in July.

This phone says its coming out October.

Wow. Just wow. The battery is the selling point for me though. I wish more newer phones would come packed with a big battery like that.

Well with a CPU freq of 2.3GHz, it kind of needs that massive of a battery. Regardless, between that and the huge display, the battery life will still probably be terrible.

where is my laser keyboard that shoots out of the phone when it is on the dock so i can type on my desk?

There's an APP for that. Jk.

THis started as a rumor in some blog and now everybody and their mommas is spreading it. I'm glad neowin has realized how OTT those specs are.

Google seems to be able to sell their products at a lower price than everyone else I guess.
The Nexus 4 is damn near half the price of other phones in it's class,
and blows the Lumia 920 and the iPhone 5 away totally.

A 5.2" 1080p OLED would cost a bomb i would have thought, would love one though.

Err the Galaxy S4 has a 5" 1080p OLED display. And the Galaxy S3 has a 4.8" 720p OLED. The S1 and S2 also had OLED. Samsung market it as AMOLED, but it's basically OLED.

And the specs in this article are clearly BS.

Wow!! Damn, that'd be more like a supercomputer, lol. Unreal.
Gotta love LG. The Nexus 4 is an incredible phone, absolutely amazing.

Yup, I miss phones..........

lol that was funny.
Looks like Android is having size wars now.... I'll be upgrading to the Galaxy SII once my contract expires! 4.3" is perfect for me.

They forgot a native 3D screen, a dvb-S2 tuner with an internal satellite dish, a 3TB hard drive and a 7.1 speaker system to carry around.
