Left 4 Dead demo available with pre-purchase

Those looking forward to the Left 4 Dead release date will be delighted to hear a demo has been released for both PC and Xbox 360, although pre-purchase is required to play the demo before November 11th, when access will be open to all, regardless of pre-purchase. In addition to having access to the demo 5 days earlier than everyone else, pre-purchasers also get a 10% discount on the full price of the game, bringing the total cost to $44.99 (£28) through Steam.

Public demo access begins on November 11th, and both demos end on November 18th when the game is due to hit the shelves in North America, and available worldwide via Steam. The game will be in retail stores from November 21st for those in Europe.

I've run a server for 14 hours now, no crashes or laggs for ppl who are playing on it.
Since it is a pre-release for pre-orders there aren't a lot of dedicated servers around or people having a good connection or computer setup to run one.
So once the public demo is out or the real full game, it should become better with the server stuff.

Games pretty fun.

I've had some pretty bad lag issues (not uncomming living in New Zealand), several crashes and lock-ups and every now and again when the game starts the game runs incredibly slow.

This game is awesome! As long as you can connect to a server that is. Let's hope they get it sortet in time for the public demo.

Yeah, finding a server is currently the most difficult aspect of the entire game ;)

Does it bother anyone that they have done away with the server browser that they use in all their other games? Sometimes I'd might want to select my own server or select my own group of people to play with. I know you can select "Play with friends" but a lot of times with games like Counter Strike I select a server because of the "kind" of people I know frequently play there. Or because I see people I played with/against before and I know are good.

People who pre-purchased the game get early access to the demo. It's amazingly fun. I've been playing it all day since 10am EST. It gets quite scary too.

That is absolutely stupid, buy a game to play a demo? it used to be, play a demo then buy the game..no wonder these dev/publisher companies are all jacked up..

No, they offer the demo until the game is released, but those who pre-order the game get to play the demo before anyone else, that's all.

Otherwise, yeah, it would be pretty ridiculous.

How can a digital copy cost £5 more than the media version (play.com), you can't even blame a 3rd party setting the price it's a game by Valve?

Am I the only one that thinks the wording of that is contradictory?

It should read "although pre-purchase is required to play the demo before November 11th". Thanks for pointing that out, I'll get it changed.

although pre-purchase is required to play the demo before November 6, when access will be open to all, regardless of pre-purchase
