Leisure Suit Larry Kickstarter campaign gets over $600,000

Fans of the Leisure Suit Larry franchise are very happy this week. The Kickstarter crowd source funding website has concluded its campaign to raise funds for a remake of the first game in the mature, but still funny, adventure game series. The campaign ended up with $655,182, exceeding its original goal of $500,000.

As we have reported before, the current plan is to create a remake of the first game in the series, Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, for the PC, Mac, the iPad and Android tablets. The game was first released in 1987 but the new version will have updated graphics and more content.

This remake will have direct involvement with the creator of the Leisure Suit Larry series Al Lowe. He will be teaming up with developer Replay Games, made up of former employees and executives of Sierra On-line, the now defunct game publisher that first released the game franchise.

In a post on the Kickstarter page, Replay Games' Paul Trowe stated:

YOU DID IT!!!  Nothing could make me more proud right now, you guys!!  We promise to give this game the entire 25+ years of experience each one of us veterans has to put all of the culmination of our years of making great games in to this product.  We think (and hope) you'll like it as much as we like making it.
