Today at PDC, Microsoft announced its Windows Azure cloud services and platform.Ray Ozzie introduced the new service in a packed keynote in Los Angeles this morning. Announcing Azure Ozzie said "think of it as Windows in the cloud".
Azure will provide businesses with a set of hosted services from Microsoft that allow developers to build rich web based applications that can scale well. Housed in Microsoft's data centers, the service will initially be released as a Community Technology Preview and free of charge during its testing phase.

Ozzie introduced a new start up named "Bluehoo" which is the latest interactive social networking site based on the Windows Azure platform.

A Bluehoo spokesperson announced that the download and site would be operational from mid-day US ET.

windows azure life platform?
stave blamer said windows starta ?? i guess that was the codename eh ..
Having watched the live stream Azure opens things up a lot for devs and businesses. Very good stuff indeed.
As for the names, Azure sounds nice. Vista sounds well....yuck. Windows Strata sounds cool too.
Bluehoo isn't a game, it appears to be a mixture of facebook and twitter aimed at the younger market (or they have branded stupidly if looking for the older market to jump on).
Though in the future enterprises will be able to run their own type of Azure platform on their own servers if they want more control.
It really is like Windows up in the cloud. The main idea is that any Windows app you write for the client OS/Server should then also (with a few minor tweaks) run up on Azure.
They should've named Windows 7 that instead.. lol
Oh well.. this looks exciting.. can't wait to see the end product of this cloud service.
Strata Windows is UPVC window company....lol

Well, we host a website for a local company called "Vista Windows" a double glazing company, and before anyone says, they were called Vista years before windows decided to call their next OS it.
Windows Strata is NOT a cool name if you're from the UK.
