Windows Home Server system announcements at CES

After Hewlett-Packard announced their new Mediasmart Servers last week, Acer has announced at CES that it is also building a Windows Home Server system - The Acer Aspire EasyStore Home Server - which is powered by energy-efficient Intel Atom 230 CPU and up to 4 SATA hard drives.

Acer has now joined the list along with other two companies - Shuttle Computers and VIA Technologies to announce Windows Home Server systems. The Acer Aspire Easy Store Home Server is expected to hit the retail stores in March.

Shuttle has announced two models:
  • SH-K4500 with 2 hard drive bays
  • SH-K4800 with 3 hard drive bays

VIA has also announced two models:
  • A model based on the Artigo A2000 with 2 drive bays
  • NSD-8000 which can hold up to 8 hard drives

Both Shuttle and VIA Home Server systems are available right now in the US, Europe and Asia.

8 hard drives... yummy ... I wonder how much it'll cost

I dunno, does it come with 8 hdds? And if so what size? If it just comes with one 1TB or 2x500GB drives to start it shouldn't cost that much considering the rest of the bays.

Hell, 8TB should be great with more and more HD vids starting to pop up.
