LL Cool J helps to develop upcoming Windows 8 exclusive music app

CES 2013 has long been an excuse for celebrities to show up at the massive trade show in Las Vegas to promote or endorse upcoming products related to consumer electronics. This week, Microsoft is using CES to assist in the announcement of an upcoming music collaboration app that's being made especially for Windows 8.

The app, as revealed on the Microsoft Experience blog, is called Liquid MyConnect Studio, and it's being made by Boomdizzle, a company co-founded by musician and NCIS: Los Angeles actor LL Cool J. The idea for the app came about when LL Cool J encountered difficulties with creating music tracks while on the road or working on his TV show; the app is being designed to let people remotely record and edit music in real time.

And why make this app an exclusive for Windows 8? LL Cool J indicated in the video interview above that he wanted Liquid MyConnect Studio to work across multiple devices without having to be redeveloped for each device. That would seem to suggest that there is a Windows Phone 8 version coming out as well; there's no word on when the app will launch or how much it will cost.

They should spend some time making the default music app less sucky!

I say that as a WP user, Zune HD owner who still uses the Zune software for Windows 7. The music app for Win 8 is just bloody horrendous!

Microsoft isn't making this app.

most metro apps are horrible.

Music apps is really bad compared to zune software
pictures apps is horrible compared to windows live photo gallery
mail is sucky compared to windows live mail
calendar is bad

not sure if that is their plan to make every default windows app so bad that people would stop using them?

I thought so too at first. Then I clicked on "my music" and let it fetch my entire music library. All the ways of navigating my music is there very similar to the Zune software. It then scanned my music and matched it to stuff in the Xbox Music service and now I have cloud streaming access to them with no extra steps. I created a smart DJ list at work and was surprised when it was adding in similar music I didn't even own and I don't even have the music pass. The only commercial was once and awhile for the music pass. My only complaints are there is no alert on song change and there's no volume control. I'd use it at work everyday if I could control its volume independently of the main system volume.

again your stupid **** has nothing to do with the article, for built in apps they do the basic job, which is what they are for. If you want something better then ****ing download something or use what the **** you used with windows 7,

A Windows RT user can't use the Zune software that they used on Windows 7. If Microsoft wants to replace software, they need to do it with software that's either equal to or greater than the software they're replacing.

win RT devices are not meant as pc or laptop replacements, they are simple tablets like iPad. So saying photos app or music app are not as good as say live photo gallery or zune is the wrong context, as both of those are also better than the default music and photo apps on iOS and Android tablets.

pro tip, if you want apps with loads of options and menus and buttons and features, don't go for a tablet only experience (as in RT/iOS/Android), go with a w8 pro tablet or a full laptop / pc.

The Surface RT is in competition with the iPad. iTunes on the iPad works great. Xbox Music on the RT? Not so much. Plus, my response what in response to someone saying if someone doesn't like Xbox Music then they can go back to what they had on Windows 7. An RT user can't do that.

Don't call it a comeback
I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear
Makin the tears rain down like a MON-soon
Listen to the bass go BOOM
Explosion, overpowerin
Over the competition, I'm towerin
Wreckin shop, when I drop these bytes that'll make you call the cops
Don't you dare stare, you betta move
Don't ever compare
Me to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced
Competition's payin the price
