Lumia 900 Dark Knight Rises edition coming to Europe

If you live in Europe, you may have a chance to purchase a limited edition of the Nokia Lumia 900 with a tie-in to one of the biggest movies of 2012. Pocket-lint.com reports that Nokia will release a version of the Windows Phone that's also a promotion for the upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.

The limited edition will be colored in black with the Batman logo laser etched into the Lumia 900's case. The smartphone will go on sale sometime in the coming weeks in the UK, Germany, France and other European territories. There's no word yet on the price of this version nor how many will be available for sale to the general public.

Nokia has already made a couple of tie-ins with its Lumia family of phones with The Dark Knight Rises. In 2011, during a press event in London to promote the movie, members of the media were given a limited edition Dark Knight Rises version of the earlier Lumia 800. The Canadian wireless carrier Rogers also gave away a Dark Knight Rises version of the Lumia 900 as part of a contest to launch the smartphone earlier in 2012.

Already pre-ordered my Cyan Lumia from play.com

On their site they claim to be getting the 900 on the 30th. Theres so much confusion surrounding the launch date I don't even know anymore...

They claimed to have 1 left in stock when I ordered, and now they're still claiming to have 1 left.

Idk why you would want this really, you pay a big price for the phone which Im guessing your going to keep for a long time, idk why you would want Batman branding on it. Maybe if your an extreme hardcore fan but still...

I guess it's subtle enough to keep hidden and isnt obvious unless you're showing off the Phone. And saying "I'm Batman..." in a gruff voice is timeless. ;-)

why not wait for wp8?

Contrary to popular techie beliefs, the average consumer doesn't buy "devices" with software upgrades in mind. Few will even know about WP8 and what it will bring to their phones (if it's an option) when MS finally does talk about it.

If they get the upgrade and then upgrade it's a nice bonus for them otherwise they tend to move up to the newest software package when they get newer hardware in the future. Look at the PC market, few people actually buy retail upgrade versions of Windows, they move to the newest version when they finally buy a new PC. Phones aren't any different in my mind.
