MacBook Pro's could arrive with Touch ID embedded into power button

While there have been previous rumors about Apple offering Touch ID and and OLED function keys on its upcoming MacBooks, the folks at 9to5Mac have also now chimed in, adding a bit more information and validity to the rumors.

A lot has changed since the introduction of the third generation of the MacBook Pro. At its inception, it was a unique piece, but after several years PC manufacturers have caught up, creating equivalently elegant models utilizing metals with exquisite designs. Simply put, the design that once made the MacBook line unique, has become a bit long in the tooth.

It looks as though Apple might be on the offensive this fall, as the folks from 9to5Mac are reporting that a reliable source has informed them that the new MacBook Pro will offer a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, that could be embedded in the power button. The new Touch ID sensor would be paired with an OLED touch enabled function key row, making for an interesting combination.

Naturally, we will have to wait a couple more months to find out whether these rumors are true.
