Cheers Activewin Take a look at the new MSN.com design in progress. The new sports a darker finish, (purplish puke color gone, YAY!) new navigation and updated links to content. The new site includes links to a new "My MSN" website as well. Unlike that website, so far you cannot customize the color, layout, etc of this main website. The website also sports Passport "SignIn.Net" buttons.
In addition to the new design of the MSN.com website, Microsoft plans to unveil the "My MSN" service. The new service includes a page for customized and localized weather, news, stock quotes, and more! The new My MSN site features the same design as the beta msn.com site, however you can change the layout, color, and content to fit your needs. The service will most likely go online with the official release of XP, we at Neowin have not seen any planned dates as of yet.
Beta 8a - The Bad
While a SmartBars sample is commented out in the XP Copper skin, this may not be the final form of the UIS definitions. Always on Top, Rollup, Quicklaunch, and URL sample .wbp files included (in main wb dir).
No Windows Installer usage in this build. Anything installer related like all user/limited user installs/etc not in this build. Installer is also bigger than it needs to be, will be working on that.
RUNDLL32 is not skinned with this build on XP. You can force it to skin by adding the following to windows wb.ini and restarting WB.
[Global]
SkinDisplay = 1
We are working on the funkiness of this on 9x machines.
Beta 8a - The Ugly
Logon/domain prompt dialogs on XP have a black text background for the checkbox if button skinning is enabled in this build.
Scrollbars DOA.
If you have a taskbar > one row high and it changes back down on applying a new skin,
this is a Microsoft bug. Try it a few times changing between Windows Classic and the
Windows XP Visual Style.
The Please Wait dialog appearing on a 2nd monitor on Windows XP is a also MS issue.
If the Appearance tab in Display Properties does not have the additional WindowBlinds functions, make sure the Path key at HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Stardock WindowBlinds WB5.ini Installed is pointing to the directory you installed WindowBlinds to (that contains wbbasicui.dll).
If necessary, update the Path key's value and then regsvr32 the dll manually. If this
occurs, please email your install.log to kwilas@stardock.com.
