First 0.13micron 512Mbit DDR Chips from Winbond

Winbond announced that they managed to make the first engineering samples of 512Mbit DDR SDRAM chips using a new finer 0.13micron manufacturing technology, which they licensed from Toshiba. By the way, Toshiba is not going to continue producing DRAM.

They also said that the mass production of the mentioned above chips should start in Q2 2002. By that time they expect the currently existing problems with the chips packaging to be solved.
