Thers's an intersting piece at Digi Times, an excellent site for any of you trollers out there, which shows that AMD is making serious inroads into Intel's market share on the island of Taiwan.
The piece claims that the competitor is winning not just on the distributor side of the business on the island but is also eating into the OEM market.
The authors say the declining cost of the Pentium 4 means not a great deal of profits, and that major mobo manufacturers including Asustek, Gigabyte and MSI now have AMD solutions amounting to over 30 per cent, while in the distribution focused market its share is now over 50 per cent.
Gigabyte AMD systems account for over 40 per cent of its shipment and Abit scores an amazing 60 per cent share to North America. These companies produce PCs, often unbranded, which are then re-branded by vendors in the different tiers of the market.
According to the piece, the Via KT chipsets now surpass 85 per cent of Socket A mobos. SiS is also making some inroads into the marketplace.
